Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Job Description

The Safety Manager is a hands-on, operationally focused leader responsible for driving a proactive safety culture across multiple manufacturing and warehouse locations. This role ensures regulatory compliance, reduces operational risk, and standardizes safety programs across all shifts. The position partners closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety procedures, training programs, emergency response protocols, and corrective action initiatives. While overseeing site security operations and vendors, the primary focus remains occupational health, safety, and compliance within a food manufacturing environment involving chemicals, compressed gases, transportation, and warehouse traffic.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure EHS & Regulatory Compliance, including OSHA, FDA, GMP compliance across manufacturing and warehouse environments.

  • Participate in audits, whether regulatory, customer, insurance, or SEDEX.

  • Provide hands-on leadership in fast-paced, multi-shift food manufacturing operations.

  • Oversee chemical safety, including handling, compressed gases, sanitation chemicals, SDS management, spill response, and emergency containment.

  • Conduct incident investigation and risk mitigation through root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and workers’ compensation support.

  • Develop and deliver training and SOPs for safety, onboarding, forklift operation, LOTO, PPE, ergonomics, and emergency response.

  • Prepare for emergencies with action plans, drills, evacuation procedures, and ensure life safety systems compliance.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Warehouse, HR, Quality, and Security teams.

  • Oversee security operations, including access control, cameras, alarms, vendors, and security personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in chemical safety within food and beverage manufacturing.

  • Experience in incident investigation, training, and risk mitigation in production environments.

  • Knowledge in EHS compliance, environmental health, and safety programs.

  • 3–5+ years of safety leadership experience in manufacturing, food production, distribution, or industrial environments.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and workers’ compensation processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, EHS, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Prior team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • SEDEX audit experience is a plus.

  • First Aid / CPR certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Strong communication, analytical, and training facilitation skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally between sites.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Graham, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

6% Bonus 96 Hours PTO Phone Reimbursement

This is a fully onsite position in Graham,NC.
