Job Description

The role of an Industrial Electrician involves performing electrical maintenance on industrial equipment, working on a rotating swing shift schedule with hours from:

7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, and 11pm to 7am (rotating every week)

Responsibilities

  • Receive instructions, wiring diagrams, and specifications for scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work.

  • Inspect all electrical equipment in the plant, checking motor bearings, lubrication, commutation, vibration, and signs of wear or need for adjustment.

  • Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment or personal judgment based on general electrical knowledge.

  • Perform repairs on 'hot' lines as required to minimize production interruption.

  • Advise when immediate equipment shutdown is necessary or when continued operation is harmless.

  • Interpret and analyze drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and trace electrical circuits, determine material and replacement needs, and select a logical troubleshooting approach.

  • Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, assemble, and lubricate electrical equipment while taking safety precautions.

  • Adjust equipment to obtain proper operating characteristics.

  • Make temporary or permanent repairs to equipment such as motor drives, generators, control panels, relays, interlocking systems, electronic devices, and circuit breakers.

  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on cranes and other equipment.

  • Erect scaffolds and perform simple rigging as required.

  • Operate small machine tools, such as a drill press and power saw.

  • Check air compressor operation and make necessary adjustments.

  • Occasionally operate cranes for charging ingots in furnaces or making miscellaneous lifts.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly working area.

  • Make emergency, minor mechanical repairs in the absence of other maintenance personnel.

  • Install, splice, or replace sections of wire for repairs or temporary installations.

  • Install conduit, fittings, switches, controls, fixtures, and connect and adjust electrical equipment for new installations or replacements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with conduit bending, maintenance repair, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Proficiency with tools such as drill press, power saw, chain fall, burning equipment, portable drill and grinder, safety devices, electrical testing equipment, hand tools, pipe benders, and soldering equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
