We are seeking an R&D Design Engineer to join our team, specializing in power distribution equipment. This position is based in Wendell, NC, and requires in-office presence 3 days a week.

You’ll make a difference by:

  • Design Development: Create ideas and refine designs for power distribution equipment, including switch devices, switchgear, and circuit breakers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • Technical Analysis: Conducting within the team simulations and analyses to evaluate design feasibility and performance, using software tools such as NX and Teamcenter and electrical simulation programs.

  • Prototyping and Testing: Direct the prototyping and testing phases, analyzing results to validate designs and make necessary adjustments to meet performance criteria.

  • Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation of design processes, test results, and project reports to support compliance and future development efforts.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with international cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management, to ensure seamless project execution and integration.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to enhance design processes and product offerings.

  • Innovative Solutions: Identify and implement innovative design approaches and technologies to enhance product functionality, efficiency, and sustainability.

  • Sub-Project Management: Lead project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful completion of design initiatives and alignment with strategic objectives within the assigned tasks.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and project updates for stakeholders.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering.

  • 3+ years of experience in R&D and design roles, specifically in power distribution or electrical equipment.

  • Ability to be on-site at the Wendell, NC location a minimum of 3 days per week.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., NX, Teamcenter).

  • Experience designing power distribution equipment, including switch devices, switchgear, and circuit breakers.

  • Experience leading teams, inspiring collaboration, and driving innovation.

  • Skilled in working on complex projects both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to convey technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across cross-functional teams.

  • Passion for technology, sustainability, and creative solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for optimizing engineering designs.

  • Commitment to quality and excellence in engineering designs.

  • Knowledge of IEEE, ISO, UL, and other standards.
