About Corewell Health Wayne Hospital

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital opened its doors to western Wayne communities in 1957. This full-service hospital is the only hospital in the Wayne, Westland, Garden City, Canton, Inkster and Romulus area verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III Trauma Center. The hospital has a longstanding partnership with Detroit Metropolitan Airport and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to handle a wide variety of health and communicable disease concerns including mass trauma and emergency patients.

Scope of work 

Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products. Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms. Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs. Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy. Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital. Performs necessary record keeping functions. Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window. May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required. Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner. Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma program or GED.

  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred

  • Pharmacy Technician license - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or

  • Pharmacist Intern license - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
