Location: Erie 1 BOCES Special Education Services Maryvale High School Cheektowaga, NY
Rates: $140/day - Non-Certified/Per Diem $170/day - Certified, Short-Term (7-20 weeks) $47,533/year - Certified, Long-Term (20 weeks or more) - Benefits and STEP 1 $49,283/year - Certified, Long-Term with Masters Degree (20 weeks or more) - Benefits and STEP 1
Hours: 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Maryvale Academy is seeking a Long Term Substitute Teacher to teach Living Environment/Biology and General Science to Special Education Regents-Based 8th-12th graders. Class sizes are 6:1:1 and 8:1:1.
Job Responsibilities:

Provide instruction in appropriate academic area
-
Provide remediation as necessary
-
Prepare lesson plans and make optimum use of class time to meet stated objectives
-
Evaluate each pupil's performance, knowledge, and skills in academic area of responsibility
-
Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve behavioral and learning problems
-
Participate in the development, implementation and progress monitoring of student IEPs as assigned
-
Meet with students in small group setting to discuss school, social and personal concerns
-
Communicate with parents on individual pupil progress or other areas of concern
-
Join with other staff members in meeting with parents and students at regularly scheduled grade reporting or other relevant meetings

Maintain accurate and complete student records

Guide pupils in selection and performance of appropriate activities
-
Aid in establishing and maintaining standards of pupil conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment
-
Provide encouragement for continuation of formal education and assistance in employment awareness skills

Supervise pupils in/out of classroom program related activities during the day

Assist in the storage, maintenance and use of materials and property
-
Requisition books, instructional aids, equipment, tools materials, supplies as required

Attend faculty meetings and participate in advisory committee meetings as requested

Maintain professional growth by participating in workshops, conferences, and advanced coursework as appropriate

Participate in planning and developing Program goals, objectives, curricula, and methods as requested

Complete all required paperwork
Job Qualifications

Must hold a valid NYS Teaching Certification in Science 7-12

Experience working with Special Education High School Students in Science curriculum(s).
