Job Description

Field Training Officer (FTO) - EMT/Paramedic

Location: Pikeville, KY

The Field Training Officer (FTO) provides highquality patient care while training, mentoring, and evaluating new and existing EMS personnel. This role ensures clinical excellence, operational readiness, and adherence to all regulatory and company standards.

Essential Duties

Train and mentor probationary employees, EMS students, and personnel requiring remedial support.

Evaluate employee performance through observation, skills assessment, and documentation.

Support daily and weekly scheduling needs as directed.

Submit timely progress reports to Operations Supervisors and the Operations Manager.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, medical direction, and company policies.

Promote safe operations, quality patient care, and strong customer service.

Verify ambulances and stations are clean, stocked, and operationally ready.

Assist with equipment testing, evaluation, and selection.

Participate in community education, safety initiatives, and internal training programs.

Conduct onboarding for new EMTs/Paramedics, including policies, protocols, skills checks, and company culture.

Support New Employee Orientation and ensure compliance with medical direction requirements.

Deliver ongoing safety training as directed by Corporate Safety Management.

Maintain accurate records of employee certifications.

Review and mentor EMT/Paramedic students as a preceptor.

Ensure all patient care and billing documentation meets standards and is completed on time.

Collaborate with Operations and Communications to ensure report accuracy before shift completion.

Represent the company professionally with internal teams, partner agencies, and community stakeholders.

Participate in FTO meetings and assist with special projects as assigned.

Support and uphold GMR/Lifeguard philosophies, policies, and core behaviors.

Qualifications

Experience

Minimum 6 months of employment

Driving record meeting GMR standards

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of all required GMR training modules

Licenses & Certifications

Current state EMT or Paramedic license

Valid state driver's license

Current AHA CPR/BLS certification
