Full job description

About the Company

Armada is the hyperscaler for the edge, delivering modular AI infrastructure from first deployment to AI factory with speed, scale and sovereignty. Named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and to the CNBC Disruptor 50, Armada’s solutions are deployed in over 60 countries globally for organizations ranging from energy to defense.

With nearly $500 million in funding to date, Armada is backed by leading investors including Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock and Microsoft (M12), alongside strategic partnerships with Microsoft, Dell, Palantir, NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Skydio. We are building the infrastructure layer for sovereign and edge AI - rugged, deployable compute for customers that cannot rely on centralized cloud.

Working at Armada means taking ownership, driving autonomy, and delivering impact. You’ll tackle challenges that haven’t been solved before and help build something transformative from the ground up. What you do here will not only define your career but help further Armada’s mission to bridge the digital divide for customers around the world.

About the role The Site Superintendent will serve as Armada's on-site lead during the installation, startup, and commissioning phases of the Leviathan data center, driving the facility to Ready for Service (RFS). This role bridges traditional construction site management with data center startup and commissioning expertise, acting as the primary point of coordination between the customer's General Contractor (GC) and subcontracted trades, Armada's own subcontractors and trades, and the Commissioning Authority (CxA) team. The ideal candidate combines a strong construction management background with hands-on experience bringing mission-critical or industrial facilities from substantial completion through commissioning to RFS.

Location

  • This is an on-site, field-based role located at the Leviathan data center project site [TBD] for the duration of installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Must be able to walk active construction sites, climb ladders/stairs, and work in mechanical/electrical spaces under construction; PPE required at all times.
  • Schedule may require extended hours, weekend work, and short-notice availability during critical energization and testing windows to support RFS milestones.
  • Travel requirements: [TBD]

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Site Coordination & Construction Management

  • Serve as Armada's primary on-site point of contact, coordinating daily activities across the customer's GC, GC-managed subcontractors, and Armada's own subcontracted trades.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce integrated site logistics plans, look-ahead schedules, and work sequencing across multiple concurrent trade crews.
  • Chair or participate in daily and weekly coordination meetings (OAC meetings, trade stacking, site safety huddles) to align GC, subcontractor, and commissioning schedules.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts — space, sequencing, access, utility tie-ins — before they impact schedule.
  • Track and drive closure of punch lists, RFIs, and deficiency logs tied to startup readiness.
  • Maintain daily site reports, photo documentation, and progress logs for internal and customer stakeholders. Commissioning Coordination (Path to RFS)
  • Serve as the field liaison to the Commissioning Authority (CxA), ensuring construction completion aligns with the Level 1–5 commissioning sequence.
  • Coordinate system turnover packages, startup sequencing, and system-by-system readiness with mechanical, electrical, controls, and fire/life safety trades.
  • Support and track execution of pre-functional checklists, functional performance testing (FPT), and integrated systems testing (IST).
  • Escalate and manage resolution of commissioning-driven punch items, ensuring trades remobilize quickly to close gaps.
  • Partner with the CxA, engineers of record, and OEM startup technicians to sequence equipment energization, startup, and testing safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain visibility into the master commissioning schedule and proactively flag risks to the RFS date. Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Enforce site safety programs across all trades on site, including GC-managed and Armada-managed crews, in line with customer and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Ensure work is executed per approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards; support QA/QC inspections and documentation.
  • Support permitting, inspection, and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) coordination as needed to support system energization and occupancy. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Communication
  • Act as a trusted, credible technical and field voice across customer GC leadership, subcontractor superintendents, CxA teams, and Armada leadership.
  • Provide regular progress updates, schedule risk assessments, and RFS readiness reporting to Armada project leadership and the customer.
  • Support change management, ensuring field changes are documented and routed through proper approval channels.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of construction site management experience, including 3+ years focused on mission-critical, data center, or industrial startup/commissioning environments.
  • Proven track record coordinating multi-trade, multi-stakeholder job sites through substantial completion, startup, and commissioning to occupancy or RFS.
  • Working knowledge of data center MEP systems (electrical distribution/switchgear, UPS, generators, cooling plants/CRAH-CRAC, BMS/EPMS controls) sufficient to coordinate startup sequencing with the CxA and trades.
  • Familiarity with commissioning process frameworks (e.g., ASHRAE Guideline 0/1.1, Level 1–5 commissioning) and the ability to translate commissioning requirements into field execution plans.
  • Strong scheduling acumen (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar) and experience managing look-ahead schedules across GC and subcontractor crews.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, and third-party commissioning agents simultaneously.
  • OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain); strong site safety leadership background.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting schedule and risk status to customer and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center construction/startup programs.
  • Working knowledge of building automation/controls systems and integrated systems testing (IST) processes.
  • Existing relationships with major data center GCs, CxA firms, and MEP trade contractors.
  • PMP, CxA, or CCM certification.
  • Experience owning or supporting RFS/turnover documentation packages (O&M manuals, as-builts, warranty documentation).
