The Role

We are looking for a Strong Backend Engineer to join our core CTO team and build the next generation of AI-powered features that simplify global equity management.

You’ll design, build and deploy systems and AI agents that extract, understand, and act on complex financial and legal data - in real time. Your work will directly power customer-facing AI interfaces, advanced document automation, and real-time compliance decision engines across the Slice platform.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End System Engineering: Design, build, deploy and maintain robust backend systems and data pipelines, taking features from initial concept all the way to production.
• Core Vertical Impact: Contribute to and drive features across our primary AI focuses, including Document Automation, Customer-Facing Agents, real-time decision engines.
• AI & Agent Development: Design, Deploy and Evaluate sophisticated AI agents and workflows integrated directly into Slice’s core SaaS infrastructure.
• Production Ownership: Own services in production, monitor system health, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvements in reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Production Optimization: Continuously evaluate and fine-tune system and model performance for accuracy, latency, scalability, and cost.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with the CTO, platform engineers, product, and design teams to deliver user-facing AI capabilities.
• Stay current with advances in LLMs, text analysis, and generative AI to guide product innovation.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Core Backend Development: 6+ years of experience in backend heavy engineering.
• strong proficiency in Python - Must.
• Product Ownership: Ability to take projects end-to-end from research to production rollout, while translating product requirements into production-ready engineering solutions.
• Experience in cloud-based deployment (GCP preferred).
• Communication: Excellent written and spoken English, with strong collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Agentic Frameworks: Solid experience building and integrating AI agents and workflows using frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, PydanticAI etc.
• Applied AI :deploying practical AI/ML systems into real-world production environments.
• NLP & Text Processing: Familiarity with NLP/ LLM architectures, and text-extraction or document-processing pipelines.
• Experience with vector databases or RAG pipelines.
• Familiarity with compliance, fintech, or document-intensive domains.
