CONTRACT SPECIALIST

Pay Ranges: San Diego CA: $121,585 - $158,062 Per Year Washington D.C.: $121,785 - $158,322 Per Year Norfolk VA: $113,656 - $147,755 Per Year Silverdale WA: $130,932 - $170,214 Per Year Jacksonville FL: $106,437 - $138,370 Per Year Pearl Harbor and Honolulu HI: $111,119 - $144,457 Per Year In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, managing, and implementing contracts using Government contracting laws and policies; 2) Using computer operations to develop and/or analyze technical and financial reports regarding costs; 3) Applying negotiation techniques to make agreements involving contract price and terms. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will apply contracting policies, contracting practices and negotiating techniques to negotiate in the acquisition of services, systems, and construction. You will perform pre-award and post-award functions relating to the planning, development, award, and/or administration of contracts. You will analyze and provide technical guidance on factors affecting contractors' costs using historical cost data. You will interpret procurement regulations and policies. You will review contracts, contracting plans, and contract changes. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirement of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Contracting Positions: A bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees. NOTE: The education requirement listed above applies only to individuals entering DoD GS-1102 positions on or after October 1, 2000. Current civilian personnel in DoD who occupied GS-1102 positions or contracting positions with authority to award or administer contracts above the simplified acquisition threshold in an Executive Department on or before September 30, 2000 are exempt from meeting this requirement. Current military members who occupied a similar occupational specialty to the GS (or equivalent) 1102 or before September 30, 2000 are also exempt from meeting this requirement.
