Product Engineer Role Details

  • Full-Time

  • Office Location - New York City (preferred)

Why Translucent

Healthcare providers drive $2.5 trillion in medical expenditures annually — and operate on razor-thin 2–5% margins. Despite these stakes, the finance teams behind these organizations are buried in spreadsheets, manual data pulls, and disconnected systems, spending more time finding and cleaning data than actually using it to make decisions.

Translucent is changing that. We're building the agentic AI platform designed exclusively for healthcare finance— giving every finance team, department, service line their own arsenal of AI Agents that run 24/7, understand their specific data, business logic, and workflows.

Founded in 2024 and backed by GV, NEA, FPV, and Virtue, we've already been deployed by healthcare organizations managing over $5 billion in combined revenue. The product-market fit is real, the problem is massive, and we're just getting started. If you want to work at the intersection of AI and one of the most complex, consequential industries in the world — this is the place.

Role Overview

As a Product Engineer at Translucent, you'll build the interfaces that bring our AI financial analyst to life. Working closely with Product, Design, and AI Engineering, you'll craft intuitive experiences that transform complex healthcare financial data into clear, actionable insights that healthcare operators actually want to use. Frontend is your strength, but this is a full-stack role: you'll work across the stack from day one, contributing wherever the team needs you most.

What You’ll Do

  • Build responsive, accessible interfaces that make complex healthcare financial data clear and actionable

  • Partner with Product and Design to translate user needs into thoughtful, well-crafted experiences

  • Contribute to our component library and design system as the product evolves

  • Build features and integrations that make sophisticated financial insights accessible to healthcare operators

  • Collaborate with AI Engineers to integrate LLM workflows and ensure reliable performance at scale

  • Own system reliability, performance monitoring, and optimization across the frontend

  • Participate in architectural decisions as we scale to serve enterprise healthcare customers

What You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)

  • Working knowledge of Python and experience with APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure

  • Experience building complex, data-rich applications with a keen eye for UX

  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and inclusive design practices

  • Product sensibility : You think beyond the ticket to consider how real users will experience what you build

  • End-user empathy : Genuinely driven to understand healthcare operators' workflows and pain points

  • Startup realist : Ready to sprint when priorities shift, jump into unfamiliar areas when the team needs it, and wear multiple hats

  • Owner mentality : Take end-to-end ownership of features and systems, driving them from conception to customer impact

  • Strong judgment on trade-offs : Balance shipping quickly to learn from customers against investing in longer-term technical foundations

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

  • Interest in healthcare and complex enterprise systems

Nice to Have

  • Strong UI/UX instincts and experience partnering closely with designers on interaction and visual details

  • Familiarity with data visualization libraries (D3, Chart.js, or similar)

  • Experience building AI-powered interfaces or chat-based applications, including real-time streaming (SSE, WebSockets)

  • Background balancing speed with security and reliability in production environments

  • Experience in healthcare technology or financial systems

Experience Level

We're looking for engineers who can step in as peers to our existing technical leadership from day one. You will bring sharp judgment on trade-offs, a genuine eye for UI/UX, and the knowledge and taste to recognize what makes an enterprise product feel polished and low-key delightful, not just functional.

Base Salary : $180,000 - $250,000 USD + equity
