Position Description

Analyzes and evaluates students' behavior by measuring and interpreting their intellectual, emotional, and social development, and diagnosing educational and personal issues that impact academic performance. Plans and implements behavioral intervention programs for individual and/or groups of students, communicates with parents, and participates in professional learning. Essential Functions:

• Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility

• Ensures the safety of students

• Implements the Windham Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives

• Manage classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a positive learning environment.

• Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom

• Maintains accurate and complete records as required

• Attends parent/teacher conferences

• Assess student learning continuously and identify areas that require intervention if needed.

• Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education.

• Maintains respect for confidential information

• Keeps parents up-to-date on student progress through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences

• Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed

• Design clear and specific learning assessments.

• Maintain a positive learning environment that encourages open communication between the teacher and learner.

• Maintain a positive school community image that encourages ethical student behavior

• Maintain ongoing communication with parents

• Other duties as assigned by Administrator and/or Superintendent

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materials

• Establish and maintain professional relationships

• Participate in professional learning by attending seminars and workshops to improve instructional practice and positively affect student achievement

Qualifications/Certificates:

• Bilingual(Spanish/English) preferred.

• Active subject matter certificate as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education

• CSDE Certification(s): 070

• Experience working with a diverse student demographic

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to foster and facilitate learning and classroom management

• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

• Effective, active listening skills

• Ability to work effectively with others

• Organizational and problem-solving skills

• Excellent public relations skills

Days: Monday - Friday

Salary: Per the WFT contract
