Position Summary:

As Set Up Operator A, you will be responsible for setting up, manually programming (no CAM), operating, and optimizing Fanuc-controlled CNC milling machines to produce precision components in accordance with engineering drawings and work orders. This role requires strong machining expertise, technical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience programming CNC milling machines (manual programming; no CAM)

  • Extensive experience with Fanuc-controlled vertical CNC milling machines

  • Proven expertise in machine setup, programming, and operation

  • Strong ability to work independently from engineering drawings and work orders with minimal supervision

  • Experience performing in-process inspections and dimensional verification

  • Proficient in the use of standard inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and other shop measurement equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues

  • Experience with tooling selection, speeds and feeds, and workholding methods

  • Ability and willingness to train operators and provide technical leadership

  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)

  • Ability to learn and use systems related to:

  • Labor tracking

  • Material issue and return

  • SPC / AQL processes

  • Program transfer (send/receive CNC programs)

Are You Our Next ACE?

  • Set up, manually program (no CAM), and operate Fanuc-controlled CNC milling machines to produce precision components

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work orders to manufacture parts to specification

  • Perform first-piece verification and in-process inspections using standard measurement tools

  • Apply AQL and in-process inspection techniques to ensure quality compliance

  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, programming, fixturing, and process inefficiencies

  • Optimize machining processes to improve cycle time, tool life, and part quality

  • Select and set up appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, workholding, and offsets

  • Maintain accurate setup documentation, including tooling and process adjustments

  • Train and mentor CNC operators and junior machinists on machine setup, operation procedures, quality standards, and safety practices

  • Support Quality and Production teams with inspection and verification activities, including first article inspections (FAI), as needed

  • Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning and maintaining coolant and oil levels

  • Ensure compliance with all shop safety procedures and quality standards

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining processes

Pay Transparency:

Winchester Interconnect Corporation is committed to pay transparency. The pay range for this position is $25 - $40 per hour, plus incentive compensation. Exact salary will be contingent upon your experience, education, skills, and any other factors Winchester Interconnect Corporation considers relevant to the hiring decision.
