Pay Grade:  880  (Min $448.61 per day) Work Days:  226

Primary Purpose:

Plan, organize and manage the functions of the Secondary Academic Services Department. Advise and assist the coordinators and other employees in matters relating to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Support secondary campus administrators with curricular, instructional and in assessment needs. Interpret policies and procedures related to curriculum, instruction and assessment in compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances. Qualifications:  

Education/Certification:

Master's Degree Valid Principal Certificate (preferred) Special Knowledge/Skills:

A comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment and technology Ability to evaluate instructional programs Excellent organizational and leadership skills Experience:

3 years of experience as a teacher 2 years of experience in instructional leadership roles Campus administrative experience (preferred) Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure that Texas essential knowledge and skills are effectively implemented in all curricular areas Monitor instructional and managerial processes systematically and continuously to ensure that program activities are keyed to producing desired program outcomes Monitor that all schools are providing equitable resources and instruction Use evidence of program outcomes for corrective action and improvement, as well as for recognition of success Lead the team in collecting and analyzing data for continuous improvement Ensure effective differentiation resources and guidance in all content areas are provided to campus leaders and teachers, including guidance on intervention and enrichment Support implementation of the MTSS district model Work with appropriate staff to develop, maintain and revise curriculum documents based on systemic review and analysis Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs Ensure vertical alignment in curriculum development and resources in all content areas and appropriate assessments (formative and summative) included in the curriculum for all content areas Provide professional learning regarding use of assessment as instructional tool Work collaboratively with campus administrators to support research based instructional practices, collaborative team processes, assessment and data analysis efforts, and curriculum needs Collaborate with departments for the development of the Course Catalog for middle school and high school annually Collaborate with departments on the process for new course proposals, development and implementation Encourage the development and implementation of innovative, personalized learning opportunities which meet the varying needs of students across the district Support integration of social emotional competencies and other life ready skills into the curriculum as appropriate Work collaboratively with other teams in the academic services department and across the district in promoting district goals and initiatives Ensure that district goals and objectives are developed with the involvement of specialists, teachers, parents and/or students, when appropriate Develop procedures to facilitate collaborative decision-making processes, foster and promote collegiality and team building Communicate and support expectations that are consistent with district objectives Interact sensitively and fairly with all people Anticipate, manage and resolve conflict effectively Participate in the district-level decision process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs of the district Assist in clarifying and pursuing a common vision for district and campus improvement Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and the campus academic performance objectives Provide effective professional learning activities and/or improvement plans to ensure the best operation in the area of curriculum, instruction and assessment Make sound recommendations relative to personnel selection, placement, transfer, retention and dismissal within the Academic Services Department Delegate duties, responsibilities and functions effectively in assigned areas Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy in the area(s) supervised Provide leadership and initiative in updating policies, regulations and exhibits as appropriate for secondary instructional areas Define the program and fiscal needs in the budget development process, ensuring that fiscal resources address the mission of the district Assist program coordinators in compiling reasonable proposed budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs Demonstrate responsible fiscal control over assigned program budgets, ensuring that fiscal resources address the mission of the district Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals, and provide leadership in identifying trends and opportunities, as well as solve problems facing the profession Communicate the district's mission to the community in the area of curriculum and solicit its support in making that mission become a reality Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from supervisor Follow attendance policy as assigned by supervisor Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor Supervisory Responsibilities:
