Overview

$5,000 Sign on Bonus for eligible new hires.

The Heater Road Primary Care Clinic provides preventative, acute and chronic care to patients of all ages. Our clinic is fast-paced, with over 50,000 visits annually, including in person and telehealth options! We utilize multiple different types of care-team members to support our patients’ needs, including physicians, APP’s, nurses, medical assistants (MAs), licensed nursing assistants (LNAs), diabetic educators, pharmacists, behavioral health clinicians, dietitians, secretaries, and more! The leadership team is very involved in the day-to-day functions, and promote teamwork, collaboration, effective communication, safe and high-quality patient care, and a positive environment for all staff and patients. Together, this team strongly encourages staff to work at the top of their license scope, providing personal connections and promoting continuity of care to patients and their loved ones. The clinic provides comprehensive care to patients while open Monday through Friday 0800-1700. This allows for the team to have consistency with their schedule, promote a positive work/life balance, and maximize their time outside of work.

The role of the medical assistant is vital to the care of our patients. Primary responsibilities include assisting patients with their provider visits (obtaining vital signs, point of care testing — EKG, urine dips, bladder scans, A1C, throat and nasal swabs, etc. — vaccine administration, and assisting with procedures. The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced environment and a variety in their work while caring for patients of all ages. Full-Time, 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  • Greets, checks in patients, and notifies appropriate provider. Prepares patient, room and equipment for procedures and exams.

  • Takes and records vital signs. Informs provider of patient vital signs and concerns.

  • Recognizes and treats emergency patients as a priority, assists with patient examinations and treatments.

  • Handles patient situations over the phone, schedules appointments and procedures with medical professionals. Understands limitations in dealing with patients over the phone, and involves nursing staff and providers.

  • Register new patients and establishes a medical record.

  • Prepares patient billings.

  • Assists patients by filling out insurance and other forms.

  • Supplies authorized information upon request by third party payors.

  • Instructs patients in preparation for specific procedures.

  • Collects and processes routine laboratory specimen.

  • Operates and maintains clinical equipment.

  • Maintains and uses aseptic technique including sterilization, disinfection and disposal of contaminated material.

  • Cleans, wraps and autoclaves instruments. Cares for supplies and equipment.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.

  • Previous experience in office or outpatient ambulatory care setting strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.

  • Computer skills strongly preferred.

  • Must be willing and able to participate in evening, weekend, and holiday coverage according to needs of the department.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareers Association plus DOL Registered Apprenticeships Certificate of Completion.

  • Current BLS certification required.

  • Area of Interest:LNA/MA

  • Pay Range:$21.19/Hr. - $32.85/Hr.
