Full job description

ABOUT US Reframe Systems is a Physical AI and robotics company on a mission to make high-performance housing attainable and abundant in the communities where people want to live. Through our vertically integrated delivery model and highly automated microfactories, we deliver climate resilient homes and buildings with greater speed and predictability than traditional construction.

Our volumetric modular buildings are produced in our Andover, MA microfactory, with a growing pipeline across North America and a new microfactory on the way. We are building a system that balances repeatability with site-responsive design, enabling homes that are adaptable to each site, community, and customer need. Our cross-disciplinary team brings together architecture, robotics, design engineering, software, factory operations, and field delivery to change how housing gets delivered.

We’re reimagining the future of housing through a smarter and more sustainable system that empowers people to live better. Come build it with us.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR We're looking for a Design Automation Engineer to build the architectural design and BIM tools that make our architecture and business development teams faster. Building a highly-scalable homebuilding machine is only half the problem. It’s nothing without projects to build. This role is the key force multiplier for the teams bringing in projects and get them over the line.

You'll work inside the design workflow, starting with Revit automation, and turn the manual, repetitive parts of design and estimating into stable, production-grade software that saves the team real time and feeds into our downstream "CAD-to-fab" systems.

This is a hands-on, 0-to-1 builder role. The best candidates sit somewhere between practitioner and engineer: a BIM or CAD professional who became a software builder, or an engineer who understands how buildings get designed and documented. You're comfortable using coding agents and modern AI tooling to prototype fast, work closely with the team, and ship something people actually use day to day rather than a demo that never leaves the shelf.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain production tools for the design team that are stable, save real time, and work well with our downstream design automation systems.

  • Collaborate with highly interdisciplinary teams to design and implement software automation that drives efficiency and throughput on the architecture and business development teams.

  • Build the exchange layer between our internal model and external MEP consultants so they don't bottleneck the process or lock us into their stack.

  • Build auto-takeoff from BIM to produce high-confidence estimates during design.

  • Build tooling that helps architects iterate through value-engineering options quickly.

  • Collaborate with software engineers to build and support reliable, effective tools.

QUALIFICATIONS Prior knowledge or experience in modular construction is not required . We'll teach you our system.

Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience in design/CAD/BIM automation, ideally in Type III or Type V / residential construction.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build consensus around a technical vision.

  • Strong general coding experience, ideally in Python and/or TypeScript. Experience with automated testing and releases/deployments.

  • Used Revit in a professional setting and have built integrations with Revit yourself (such as Revit plugins, Dynamo, pyRevit, or APS).

  • Built API integrations with other systems (any protocol, just that you've interfaced with real-world external systems).

  • Foundational knowledge of parametric design.

  • Experience using coding agents; builds prototypes, collaborates, and gets to a solution rapidly. A 0-to-1 builder.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Autodesk Platform Services.

  • Experience integrating with Autodesk Build or similar project management software.

  • Experience in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing setting.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Reframe Systems is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

If you believe you have the skills to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply—even if you don't meet 100% of the listed requirements. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
