Important skills include Power BI, Business Intelligence Technologies, Secure And Scalable Data Platforms, Microsoft Fabric Components, Creating Data Models, and Maintaining Data Models. Preferred (not required): Microsoft BI Technologies, Strategic Mindset For Architecture, Business Intelligence Excellence, and Microsoft Fabric Technologies.

Full job description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Business Intelligence Architect to shape and advance enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities for a higher education environment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This role will guide the design of secure, scalable data solutions, partner closely with technical and business stakeholders, and help establish strong standards for business intelligence delivery. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Microsoft BI technologies, a strategic mindset for architecture, and a proven background leading business intelligence excellence across an organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect enterprise-scale BI and analytics solutions using Microsoft Fabric technologies, including OneLake, Data Factory, Synapse, and Power BI.

  • Build, refine, and support data models, ingestion workflows, and semantic structures that enable reliable analysis and reporting.

  • Direct major data platform enhancement efforts, including initiatives involving modernization and migration to Microsoft Fabric.

  • Work closely with analysts, engineers, and business partners to convert reporting goals into practical data architecture designs.

  • Establish governance, design standards, and best practices to improve the quality, security, and scalability of BI solutions.

  • Lead and mentor business intelligence teams or center-of-excellence functions to strengthen delivery consistency and technical capability.

  • Develop reporting frameworks and dashboard strategies that provide stakeholders with clear, actionable insights.

  • Evaluate existing BI environments and recommend architectural improvements that increase performance and long-term maintainability. Requirements • At least 7 years of experience in business intelligence, data architecture, or related analytics-focused roles.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, data science, or a closely related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing a Business Intelligence Center of Excellence within a current or previous organization.

  • Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft Power BI and broader business intelligence technologies.

  • Proven ability to design secure and scalable data platforms using Microsoft Fabric components.

  • Experience creating and maintaining data models, pipelines, and semantic layers for enterprise analytics.
