Full job description

Outpatient Mental Health Centers provide comprehensive, individualized mental health services for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges. 

What to expect:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct psychiatric services through evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including prescribing and managing medications. Patients are typically seen in an outpatient clinic setting for initial assessments, follow-up appointments, medication management, and going psychiatric care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a key role in supporting patient wellness, recovery, and long-term treatment goals.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for child, adolescents, adults, and older adults. 

• Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications, assessing effectiveness and potential side effects.

• Conduct follow-up appointments to evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.

  • Collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, families, and other members of the treatment team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and strategies to support recovery.

  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention as appropriate within the outpatient setting. 

  • Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests and diagnostic studies related to psychiatric treatment.

  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical program development activities.

What we need from you:

• Active Maryland Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license and Maryland Controlled Substances Registration with valid DEA Certificate.

• Minimum two years of experience preferred, including training and practical experience with acute psychiatric patients.

• Expertise in psychotropic medications and comprehensive knowledge of mental health treatment.

The pay range for this position is $67,500 minimum to $92,500 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.
