Full job description

Job Summary: To set up and manage various types of respiratory therapy equipment including the various oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, BiPAP/CPAPs, and mechanical ventilation. Manage protocols and administer prescribed doses of respiratory therapy inhaled drugs to inpatients and outpatients. Ability to perform arterial sticks for blood gas analysis and various bedside procedures to assess pulmonary status.

Temporary assignment will be for 12 weeks with the requirement to work every other weekend and any holidays during the 12 week assignment (if assignment is during the Christmas holiday, will work either Eve or Day depending on staffing need). No requested time off allowed, must work all hours each of the 12 weeks.

Qualifications: Completion of an approved respiratory therapy program and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the state of North Carolina. The RRT credential and 2 years of experience is required for employment. One year travel experience is preferred. Candidate cannot be a Full Time or Part Time CaroMont employee. Considerable knowledge of respiratory care, terminology, procedures, and techniques. Ability to deal tactfully with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff. Must be able to problem solve, handle emergencies, and have time management skills. BLS required for all respiratory staff. Other requirements are based on areas worked and must be completed within 6 months of employment: Adult care/Main ED – ACLS is required with PALS preferred. NICU – NRP required with STABLE and PALS preferred. Mt Holly ED – ACLS, PALS and at least one year of respiratory therapy experience is required with Hazmat certification preferred.
