We are hiring a Shopify Engineer to maintain and expand Landmark Global’s existing Shopify application that powers our Digital Front End platform. This application connects Shopify merchants with Landmark Global’s Mercury NextGen logistics and cross-border commerce services, enabling international shipping, duties and tax calculation, and global fulfillment capabilities. This role focuses on maintaining a production Shopify app, scaling integrations, and incrementally expanding platform capabilities over time. Rather than building a new system from scratch, the engineer will work within an established codebase to improve reliability, support merchant integrations, and deliver targeted feature enhancements. This role requires strong backend engineering skills to design and maintain orchestration layers that connect Shopify with multiple logistics and commerce systems. The engineer will help evolve the platform architecture over time as additional commerce, payments, and logistics capabilities are integrated. This role focuses on Shopify app development and platform integrations, not Shopify theme development. Platform & Technology Stack The Shopify Digital Front End platform integrates Shopify with Landmark Global’s Mercury NextGen logistics infrastructure. The core technologies used within this platform include: • Shopify Admin API (GraphQL) • Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions • Node.js and TypeScript backend services • Shopify CLI and embedded app architecture • OAuth authentication and Shopify webhooks • API orchestration layers connecting Shopify to Mercury NextGen services • Cloud infrastructure and CI/CD deployment pipelines • Event-driven integrations across logistics and commerce systemsCore responsibilities will include the following areas: • Maintain and enhance Landmark Global’s existing Shopify application used by international merchants • Scale integrations between Shopify and Mercury NextGen logistics services • Develop and maintain Shopify Admin API and GraphQL integrations • Implement and enhance Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions • Support cross-border ecommerce capabilities including duties and tax calculations • Design and maintain backend services and orchestration layers connecting Shopify with multiple internal systems • Develop API gateway integrations supporting shipping, compliance, payments, and fulfillment workflows • Improve reliability, performance, and maintainability of the production platform • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues affecting merchant integrations • Collaborate with Product Management to deliver incremental platform improvements • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release processes • Work with distributed engineering teams to support feature releases and platform improvements • Additional duties, as assigned Requirements/Qualifications include: • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field • 5–8 years of professional software development experience • 2+ years building or maintaining Shopify apps (experience limited to Shopify theme customization is not sufficient) • Strong experience developing Shopify apps using the Shopify Admin API and GraphQL • Experience implementing Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions • Strong backend engineering skills using Node.js and TypeScript or similar technologies • Experience designing and maintaining API orchestration layers or gateway services that integrate Shopify with multiple backend systems • Experience integrating third‑party APIs and external platforms • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for production systems • Experience working in Agile development environments • Strong communication and collaboration skills working with global teams • Applicants should be prepared to provide links to Shopify apps they have built or maintained, GitHub repositories, or examples of production Shopify API integrations
