Job Summary

In this role you will perform mold maintenance, basic repair activity, and continuous improvements in the maintenance and repair of custom injection molds, jigs, fixtures, and related ancillary equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleans and services tool and components, inspects tools for damage or wear.

  • Identifies proper cleaning techniques of all tool components and plates.

  • Identifies mold location and safe usage of mold rack and carts.

  • Safely operates equipment and machinery in tooling repair area; must have an understanding of safety of self and others in eye, ear and skin protection.

  • Performs basic machining operations for Tooling as well as other departments.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure proper and timely tool staging, repair completion and end of shift reporting.

  • Assists with maintaining spare parts inventory and completes necessary records and requisitions for materials/supplies.

  • Maintain open and effective communication with the technicians, supervisors, and process engineers on Material related issues.

  • Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts to reduce scrap, cycle times, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste within the production environment.

Education

  • High School or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Less than 3 years

  • Prior experience in a tooling environment preferred

  • Experience with cGMP, ISO, and medical device manufacturing preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description

  • Must have working knowledge of plastic injection molding industry.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with good basic math skills (arithmetic, decimals, & percentages.

  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices with some understanding of statistical quality concepts

  • Must have good interpersonal communication skills, be detail oriented, organized and flexible

  • Support and contribute in Lean Sigma programs and activities towards delivery of the set target

  • Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times

  • Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work assigned shift(s) with overtime as required to complete assignments if necessary.

  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods may occur as well as getting to and from various locations within facility.

  • If specifically necessitated by customer requirements, must be able to see with or without corrective lenses and distinguish color differences for product and safety issues.

  • Hearing ability should be sufficient to hear and react to audible alarms from distances up to 150 feet.

  • The ability to be able to lift and carry various items up to 50 pounds
