General Information & Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the choir director, accompany the choir during rehearsals and concerts and assist the director with rehearsals and concerts.

Description of Duties

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Perform piano accompaniment for practice, rehearsals, and performances of college

choirs.

  • Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes, and providing the right notes and rhythms.

  • Assist by leading rehearsals as necessary.

  • Coach solos and ensembles by arranging or transposing music, teaching notes and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching good vocal techniques, providing suggestions regarding interpretation of music and encouraging students.

Education & Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.)

  • Advanced piano skills and in-depth understanding of reading music

  • At least one (1) year of experience in accompanying
