Position Purpose:
Under general supervision, performs various duties including but not limited to registration of patients, obtains insurance information, identifies the need for and obtains authorizations and re-certifications from insurance carriers and physician offices. Verifies assignments of patient benefits, co-pays and self- responsible portion of charges and collects same. Balances daily transactions at the close of each day and handles cash deposits according to established procedures. Schedules patient appointments as directed by physicians. Must be knowledgeable of managed care plans and the associated plan requirements.
Status Available: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Shift Available: Days, 8:00-4:30 / 8:30-5:00
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience:
-
One to two years' experience in physician office setting performing comparable duties.

Knowledge of third-party payers and managed care guidelines preferred.
-
Experience with a computerized patient management system preferred.

Experience with online third-party payor systems preferred.
What you will do:
-
Checks patients in for a variety of appointment types following proper guidelines. Scans insurance/photo ID and updates annual Acknowledgement Form.

Maintains proper patient demographics in the EPR/EPM.

Maintains proper information on insurance par lists. Knowledge of when an insurance authorization is needed and where to obtain it.

Ability to schedule/reschedule all types of appointments, gathering the proper information needed to complete it.

Compliant with HIPAA regulations at all times.

Collects patient co-pay and balances, posting correctly to patient's account. Able to explain to patients if necessary. Able to perform daily batch and maintain cash box.

Checks patients out when necessary and ensuring that future appointments, procedures, labs, etc., are met.

Balances financial collections each day.

Answers and processes telephone calls using a multi-line phone system.

Processes physicians consult and referral calls for providers.

Responsible for processing/distributing incoming faxes to the appropriate department.
Physical and Mental Requirements and Working Conditions:

Effective oral communication skills.

Ability to type 35 w.p.m. and/or computer keyboard efficiency.

Basic math skills required for counting/balancing money and charges.

Must satisfactorily complete central offices' training.

Ability to work under pressure and to consistently prioritize multiple tasks.

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail while performing tasks.

Ability to demonstrate poise during stressful situations.
