Job Title: Cosmetology Adjunct InstructorAgency: West Georgia Technical College Job Requisition ID: JR0000000067Shift: Any (United States of America)Compensation Details: $27.00 PER CONTACT HOUR Job Description: Nature of Duties: Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses; prepares standardized course syllabi using a provided template; assesses students’ satisfactory progress based on established course grading requirements. May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom or online course delivery. Teaches Cosmetology courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the industry environment while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field. Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Cosmetology. Measures program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success. Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population. Selected candidates must be able to work morning or evening hours, Monday through Thursday.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Cosmetology from an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent.
- Three (3) out of the past seven (7) years of field experience.
- Current Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers, Master Cosmetologist License.
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers, Cosmetology Instructor License.
- Cosmetology teaching experience.
- An associate degree in cosmetology or related.
- Teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
Salary/Benefits:
- $27.00 per contact hour.
- All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions. Hours are offered based on student enrollment each semester.
- Adjunct positions do not include benefits or a promise of future full-time employment.
Special Instructions to Applicants: To be considered for the Adjunct Pool, applicants must upload transcripts, resumes, and certifications with their application. Adjunct Pool applications are for the current academic year, and a new application is required each academic year. Adjuncts are paid on a per-contact-hour basis. All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated. Courses are offered Monday through Thursday during both morning and evening hours. Dual enrollment courses are offered Monday through Friday. Campus locations for this pool are Carroll, Coweta-CEC, Douglas-CCI, Franklin, LaGrange, and Murphy Campuses. Method of Application: Interested candidates must complete the electronic application process at www.westgatech.edu prior to the closing date. Unofficial Transcripts, resumes, and proof of applicable certifications and licensure are required for consideration. For continuous employment, official transcripts and prior employment verification are required within 30 days of hire.
