Senior Housing Inspector

Role Overview The Senior Housing Inspector leads and oversees HUD-compliant housing inspections, quality assurance, stakeholder coordination, documentation, process improvement, and staff supervision to ensure accurate, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery while supporting program goals and operational continuity. Job Responsibilities Conduct timely and accurate initial, annual, emergency, and special housing inspections in compliance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS) or NSPIRE standards defined by HUD. Coordinate inspection scheduling and access among clients, landlords, care managers, and the Department of Human Services. Oversee complex inspections and ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to inspection protocols. Manage and coordinate inspection assignments, including field activities and landlord documentation workflows. Perform quality control reviews to ensure inspection accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established standards. Identify workflow or process improvements and support efforts to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Provide backup support for inspection staff and maintain continuity of operations as needed. Serve as a primary point of contact for landlords and tenants during inspections and follow-up activities. Resolve disputes related to inspection results, including failed inspections and required repairs, using clear communication and sound judgment. Deliver professional, responsive, and service-oriented interactions with external stakeholders. Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to support inspections, case coordination, and program outcomes. Maintain and update inspection reports, records, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility. Coordinate with program staff to ensure alignment on case needs and inspection priorities. Supervise and support assigned staff by setting clear expectations, providing guidance and feedback, fostering accountability, and cultivating a collaborative, positive, and purpose-driven team environment. Engage in ongoing learning, training, and skill development, seeking and applying feedback to continuously improve performance and contribute to team and organizational success. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) 1-3 years relevant experience Prior related experience in housing inspections, property inspections, or a comparable field. Preferred Associate's Degree (AA) in a related field of study 3-5 years relevant experience Experience with subsidized housing programs and HUD inspection standards (HQS or NSPIRE); Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint) Strong organizational and time management skills. Certifications and Licensure Preferred: Housing Quality Standards Certification or NSPIRE Certification or must acquire within one year of employment.
