Overview Shifts Available:  Variable 

Employment Type:  Per Diem (PD/PRN) 

Hours:  Variable 

Location: Mission Regional Medical Center – Mission, TX

 

We are seeking a  Certified Pharmacy Technician,  sometimes referred to as a Registered Certificated Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Tech (CPhT) or Board-Certified Pharmacy Technician.   The Certified Pharmacy Technicians (CPhTs) support pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, including sterile IVs, chemotherapy, and unit-dose drugs for patients. They manage medication inventory across patient care areas, maintain automated dispensing systems, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Certified Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in patient safety by verifying orders, preventing errors, and ensuring timely delivery of critical medications. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed. 

 

  • Sterile Compounding Certification is required.

Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):  

  • Prepare and dispense medications including unit-dose, IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and operate automated dispensing cabinets 

  • Manage inventory across nursing units, crash carts, and automated systems while handling controlled substances and monitoring expirations 

  • Enter and verify medication orders in hospital EMR systems to ensure accuracy of dosage, form, route, and frequency 

  • Support patient safety by checking labels, assisting with medication reconciliation, delivering medications, and preparing drugs for specialized populations 

  • Comply with USP standards, maintain regulatory documentation, and take on specialized roles such as IV compounding, clinical support, or lead technician duties 

Qualifications Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:    1. Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred 2. State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations) 3. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required or obtained within 6 months of hire 4. High school diploma or equivalent 5. Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred 6. 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility) 7. Sterile Compounding Certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire
