Job Description

This supply chain company is looking for a VMware Engineer/Administrator to join their team as a senior infrastructure resource responsible for virtualization, systems administration, networking support, and infrastructure engineering initiatives. This individual will manage and optimize a VMware environment consisting of approximately 20 hosts and 150 virtual machines while supporting cluster administration, resource allocation, patching, maintenance, and infrastructure performance. They will work closely with developers to provision environments, translate technical requirements into infrastructure solutions, and support future automation efforts.

The engineer will also lead infrastructure improvement projects involving monitoring, firewall cutovers, patching strategies, and operational efficiencies. Long-term initiatives include increasing Azure adoption, modernizing infrastructure processes, supporting backup and storage environments, and helping move workloads from on-premises environments into the cloud. This role will serve as a technical leader and escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while mentoring team members and assisting with broader systems and network support responsibilities.

An excellent candidate will bring deep VMware expertise, Active Directory and networking knowledge, hands-on troubleshooting abilities, and experience balancing administration, maintenance, and engineering work. Candidates with Azure, automation, DevOps, Terraform, Ansible, and cloud migration experience will be ideal.

Skills and Requirements

  • 8-12 years of infrastructure engineering/administration experience

 · Strong VMware/vSphere administration experience, including hosts, clusters, virtual machines, capacity planning, and resource allocation

 · Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including directory services, storage, backup/recovery, and patch management (Active Directory, SAN, Synology, Veeam)

 · Strong networking and infrastructure operations experience, including troubleshooting, monitoring, and project-based network changes (PRTG, firewall cutovers)

 · Experience handling escalated infrastructure issues and serving as a senior technical resource

 · Exposure to supporting enterprise applications and platforms (SQL Server)

Strong communication skills and ability to work across infrastructure, development, and support teams • Azure infrastructure experience

 • DevOps exposure creating CI/CD pipelines
