Compensation: $23.90/hr. + $2/hr. shift differential

Schedule: 3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.

A Brief Summary of This Position:

The General Labor Parts Inspection Support is an individual contributor role that encompasses multiple duties including supplying or holding hanging parts, providing materials tools, and cleaning work area and equipment. General Labor Parts Inspector may operate forklift, overhead crane, or other equipment to move product. The Parts Inspector must be a highly driven individual that will safely and efficiently use various types of grinders and other tools to remove slag and mill scale from plasma and oxy/fuel cut parts.

Essential Functions:

  • Use various types of grinders and other tools to remove slag and mill scale from plasma and oxy/fuel cut parts

  • Verify that parts are dimensionally correct in comparison to blueprints and labeled correctly

  • Touch up parts and attach ID tags by means of GMAW/MIG welding

  • Sort parts and send them to the appropriate assembly shop

  • Track labor per order appropriately

  • All other duties as assigned by Department leadership

Important Details about the Role

  • Read and decipher blueprints correctly

  • Use and read tape measures accurately

  • Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery

  • Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment

  • Must have an acceptable attendance and prior employment record

  • Operate the basic functions of a personal computer

  • This position reports into Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • No Degree Required

  • One (1) year production experience

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 20 pounds

  • Capable of performing simple math, fractions and fraction to decimal conversions

  • Ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of a forklift

  • High awareness for safety at all times

  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility

  • Read blueprints and specifications

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • The ability to pass a 1G flat weld assessment

  • The ability to operate an overhead crane

  • The ability to read a tape measure

  • The ability to maintain an organized working environment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • One (1) year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

  • Close attention to detail and follow work instructions

  • Demonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
