Behavior Technician – School-Based (Port Hueneme, CA)

Locations: Elementary, Middle, and Jr. High Schools in Port Hueneme, CA

Employment Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Substitute/Flexible Opportunities Available

Schedule: Hours and shifts vary based on student and program needs (school-day schedule)

About the Role

The Behavior Technician provides direct behavioral and educational support to students with special needs in a school setting. This role is designed to help students build essential academic, social, communication, and adaptive skills while promoting positive behavior and independence.

You will work closely with teachers, school staff, and behavioral specialists to implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), collect data, and support students in achieving their learning and behavioral goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and/or small group behavioral support to students in school settings

  • Implement behavior intervention strategies and individualized support plans as directed by supervising professionals

  • Assist students in developing appropriate social, emotional, and academic skills

  • Collect accurate data on student behavior and progress

  • Support classroom routines, transitions, and participation in activities

  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other support staff

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

  • Promote positive reinforcement and skill-building throughout the school day

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum age: 18 years

  • Two (2) years of pediatric, behavioral, or educational experience preferred

  • Current CPR certification (if applicable)

  • TB clearance (PPD, questionnaire, or chest x-ray if applicable)

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
