Job Title: Program Mileage Dynos TechnicianJob Description

This role involves installing, removing, and monitoring test vehicles on a chassis dynamometer, including portable test equipment. The position requires flexibility for 2nd (3pm to 11:30pm) and 3rd shift (11pm to 7:30am), with training provided on 1st shift before transitioning to off shifts. The team is responsible for putting miles on vehicles to enable engineers to perform testing at specific mileages. This operation runs 24/7 and supports various teams for durability and calibration.

Responsibilities

  • Receive assignment and communicate with the previous shift.

  • Install and remove vehicles from the chassis.

  • Work with non-intrusive robots and set up tests.

  • Monitor tests from the control room and conduct maintenance on robots.

  • Collect data and ensure test sites are free of hazards.

  • Conduct safety observation tours and investigate safety incidents.

  • Participate in the Employee Safety Concern Process and BPD activities.

  • Train team members using JIT processes and update flexibility charts.

  • Attend and participate in shift overlap meetings.

  • Maintain standardized work documents and complete quality audits.

  • Understand and comply with environmental aspects.

  • Participate in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP).

  • Complete time cards and engage in problem-solving for continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience preferred.

  • 2-year technical degree required.

  • Hands-on technician experience.

  • Good attitude and team player mentality.

  • Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting skills.

  • Basic understanding of vehicle communication tools.

  • Ability to investigate communication or test setup issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Test technician or auto tech experience is helpful.

  • Exposure to robotics is nice to have.

  • Technical background and understanding of vehicle components and repair is helpful but not required.

  • Experience with INCA tools is helpful but not required.

  • Desire to learn new skills and work with smaller testing equipment/tools.

  • Microsoft Office and basic computer skills, electrical, mechanical knowledge.

Work Environment

The work is conducted at an outdoor chassis dyno lab, with the control room being indoors. Approximately 20-25% of the time is spent outdoors, with outerwear provided for outdoor tasks such as fueling, checking oil, and test setup. The preferred work schedule is 2nd or 3rd shift, and the position requires DOT physical certification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
