Summary

Join our team as a Jockey Driver! In this vital role, you’ll keep our yard running smoothly by safely and efficiently moving trailers between holding and processing areas. You’ll be an essential part of our operations, ensuring equipment is in the right place at the right time while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and teamwork. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

This position has a base rate of $21.25 per hour, with opportunities for pay premiums, shift differentials and overtime where applicable. Annual bonus available (variable depending on performance).

Schedule: Monday-Friday 10:00pm to 6:30am, potential weekends based on business need

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Expertly operate jockey trucks to transfer full and empty trailers to and from processing areas in the order designated by management.

  • Update the Yard Management System (YMS) in real-time and conduct yard checks twice daily to keep the facility organized.

  • Perform daily pre-op vehicle inspections, post-op cleaning, and manage settings for refrigerated units (reefers) in the yard.

  • Maintain constant contact with the gate, dock office, and management to coordinate smooth trailer rotations.

  • Operate all equipment in a legal and safe manner consistent with DOT requirements, including hours of service and load security.

  • Utilize yard tractor computers and on-board tracking systems to enter data and track vehicle movement efficiently.

  • Assist vendors and service technicians as needed within the yard.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Class A CDL license.

  • Strong reading and writing skills for accurate system entries and recordkeeping.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in a distribution warehouse.

  • Experience in a poultry processing/manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Ability to Work outdoors year-round in seasonal temperatures.

  • May be exposed to noise ranges up to 96.2 db.

  • May be exposed to light intensity of less than 5' candles.

When in a plant environment:

  • Ability to tolerate exposure to wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

  • Ability to stand for an extended period and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs by reaching, bending, and pushing boxes.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection as required.

  • May work in an environment with varying temperatures between 25 degrees and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • May handle products varying in temperatures between 25 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

  • Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
