Full job description

Job Duties

Teach high school music courses, including but not limited to choir, band, hand bells, and music appreciation, in accordance with the curriculum and educational philosophy of Maplewood Academy, Minnesota Conference, and the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.

Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that foster musical growth, creativity, and an appreciation for music.

Direct and rehearse vocal and instrumental ensembles, preparing students for concerts, worship services, school programs, festivals, tours, and other performances.

Evaluate student progress, maintain accurate academic records, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration.

Integrate biblical principles and Seventh-day Adventist values into classroom instruction and student interactions.

Foster a positive, Christ-centered learning environment that encourages students' academic, musical, social, and spiritual development.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, parents, and administration to support student success and the mission of Maplewood Academy.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school committees, worships, and other assigned school activities.

Fulfill additional boarding school responsibilities by serving as a Christian role model, mentoring students, and participating in residential life and campus activities as assigned.

Reside on the Maplewood Academy campus or within the Hutchinson community to support boarding school operations.

Maintain compliance with school, conference, and denominational policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the responsibilities of a boarding high school music teacher.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree in Music Education required. Master's degree in Music Education or a related field preferred.

North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists teacher certification in Music, or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.

Membership in regular standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
