Romania Payroll Lead Description - Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end payroll function in Romania, ensuring payroll processes are delivered accurately, compliantly, and efficiently through the application of extensive payroll expertise and local legislative knowledge. In addition to coordinating payroll projects, the role oversees employee expense reconciliations and month-end closing activities, provides guidance on complex payroll matters and drives continuous process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering accurate and on-time monthly payroll for HP Romania in compliance with local legal and company policies. (1600+ employees)
  • Legal watch and ensure compliance with our payroll provider.
  • Drive and validate payroll system configuration evolution as new company policies or programs are being deployed.
  • Ensure end to end processes are properly defined, executed, and controlled.
  • Strictly meet all SOX procedures
  • Drive any issue resolution to achieve desired results.
  • Act as the HP representative in front of local authorities on payroll-related matters; Lead any tax and social security audits.
  • Act as a trusted partner - in particular with local and global HR and controllership
  • Manage payroll provider relationships at the local level.
  • Seek for continuous process improvement & automation, explore AI, prioritize, present to management and drive enhancement.

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, HR, Tax, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably as Romania Payroll Expert.
  • Experience in driving tax audit and working in a multinational environment would be nice to have

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of the payroll framework and Romania government regulations.
  • Experience with SAP Payroll or ADP Global View is preferred.
  • Experience with Workday HCM and PECI interface is a plus
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple functions within the country (legal, HR, controllership).
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; ‘customer-oriented.’
  • Excellent analytical and team work skills.
  • Strong business application skills, in particular experience with Microsoft Excel and collaboration tools such as Teams.
  • Fluent knowledge of Romanian and English.
  • Digital skills are a plus (AI, Intelligent Automation, PowerBI).
