Description
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating production equipment to manufacture high-quality products in accordance with customer specifications and Boyd quality standards. This role supports manufacturing operations by following job instructions, verifying materials and setup requirements, monitoring product quality during production, and maintaining safe and efficient machine operation. This will be a hybrid roll between operating a plotter cutter and assisting in the ink department.
This is a part-time swing shift position, 25 to 30 hours/week
Responsibilities

Receive and review production work orders, job tickets, and assignments to ensure materials, tooling, and specifications are available and accurate prior to production.

Set up and operate assigned production equipment in accordance with established work instructions and safety procedures.

Inspect equipment prior to operation to ensure machines are functioning properly and maintenance requirements have been completed.

Follow all safety requirements, including Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), machine safety procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Obtain required approvals prior to production startup to verify proper setup, materials, and machine readiness.

Monitor production runs and perform visual inspections to verify products meet quality and customer specifications.

Identify and report production, quality, or equipment issues to leadership in a timely manner.

Accurately document production quantities, scrap, downtime, and related production information.

Assist with troubleshooting and recommend process improvements to improve quality, efficiency, and scrap reduction.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in alignment with 6S standards.

Support team objectives and production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Basic
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
Ability to read and follow work instructions

Basic computer skills and ability to use a PC

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Preferred

Color matching or work in an ink department

Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience

Experience reading blueprints or technical drawings

Experience in printing, die cutting, converting, or similar manufacturing processes

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods during the work shift

Ability to walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift

Ability to frequently grasp and handle materials and tools

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment and production noise

Vision abilities sufficient to inspect product quality and operate equipment safely

Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone as needed
