This position is open to applicants or individuals who are located in Houston, TX and will require 3-days onsite in the Houston office.

The Role:

The HR Specialist supports the day-to-day operations of the People Team, ensuring smooth execution of administrative, employee support, and foundational People processes. This role is highly operational and service-oriented, acting as a key point of contact for employees while supporting programs, systems, and internal workflows.

You will provide hands-on support across People Operations, including employee inquiries, timecard management, documentation, program coordination, and office-based responsibilities. This role is critical to ensuring the People Team operates efficiently and that employees have a consistent, high-quality experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage the People Team inbox , responding to employee questions and routing requests appropriately
  • Process and track timecards for corporate employees
  • Handle physical mail distribution , including sorting and routing to Payroll, Benefits, and other teams
  • Support unemployment claims, outplacement services and employment verifications
  • Assist with People programs and initiatives (benefits admin, surveys, engagement activities)
  • Provide administrative support including calendar coordination and scheduling for the people team as necessary.
  • Maintain and update employee records and documentation
  • Support onboarding and offboarding logistics
  • Administer Form I-9 completion and verification processes, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with employment eligibility requirements
  • Help coordinate employee engagement activities and in-office experiences
  • Partner with HRBP and People Ops team to support ongoing operational needs

What You’ve Done:

  • 0–2 years of experience in HR, administrative support, or operations (internships included)
  • Basic Excel formulas including SUM, IF statement, XLOOKUP
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Experience managing tasks with high attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace tools
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
