Assists in the kitchen area with food preparation and food service prior to, during and after meals are served to residents and staff. Assists in maintaining kitchen work areas, keeping equipment, utensils and food plates clean and properly stored.

Ensures proper sanitation and storage of kitchen equipment, food and supplies.

Ensures that food temperatures are maintained at proper levels throughout service, and storage.

Sets up food carts.

Transports food carts to and from resident areas as needed.

Prepares and delivers food substitutions or additional food items to sub kitchens as needed.

Removes food pans from food carts and stores or discards food appropriately.

Clears pans and follow 3-bin sink procedure.

Wipes down carts after each use.

Carries out garbage, cleans equipment, work tables, ranges, utensils, pots and pans, mops and sweeps floors.

Performs dishwashing and cleaning procedures.

Responsible for sanitation of kitchen work areas; will keep them clean, dry and free of hazards.
This position requires ability to lift, push and move equipment, supplies, etc., up to fifty pounds. Constant standing and walking is required. Frequent bending, lifting, squatting, kneeling also required. Must be able to move about in tight spaces and between objects, furniture and equipment. Ability to maneuver equipment such as vacuums, mop, ability to receive verbal instructions and converse with co-workers, residents and visitors.
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: Previous dining / food service experience preferred
