What You'll Do:

As a Control Systems Engineer Commissioning and Operations, you'll play a key role in designing, commissioning, and optimizing the automation systems for Dyno Nobel's new TNT manufacturing facility. You'll provide technical leadership for distributed control systems (DCS), safety instrumented systems (SIS), PLCs, and industrial networks from front-end engineering through start-up and into long-term plant operations. Following plant startup, you wil transition into the ongoing Controls Systems Engineer role responsible for the lifecycle, reliability, and continuous improvement of the facility's control systems. Other duties include:

Provide technical leadership for process automation and industrial control systems, including DCS, SIS, PLCs, industrial networks, and Functional Safety requirements, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation throughout the asset lifecycle.

Assure control system architecture, design, and engineering deliverables from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through detailed design and implementation.

Review and provide technical input on EPCM control philosophies, cause & effect diagrams, specifications, and control system documentation.

Ensure alignment with Dyno Nobel standards, cybersecurity requirements, and applicable automation industry practices.

Support Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design assurance, SIL determination, functional safety reviews, and validation activities in accordance with IEC 61511 principles.

Provide technical support during installation activities, including instrument installation, loop checking, and system verification.

Lead and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, start-up, and control system validation activities for DCS, SIS, and PLC systems.

Support troubleshooting, tuning, optimization, and upgrades of control systems to improve plant reliability and performance.

Support development and optimization of alarm management strategies, operator interfaces, and control system training.

Ensure control system readiness aligns with operational readiness (OR) milestones and successful transition into plant operations.

Manage the lifecycle of automation assets, including DCS, PLCs, SIS, industrial networks, software, and control hardware.

What We're Looking For:

Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or Automation Engineering

5+ years of experience supporting industrial automation and control systems in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, refining, explosives, or other continuous process industries.

Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication networks.

Knowledge of IEC 61511 / functional safety principles

Working knowledge of IEC 61511, Functional Safety, SIL assessments, and Safety Instrumented Systems.

Commissioning and startup experience preferred

Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives
