Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Pharmacy Technician to join our Specialty Pharmacy team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of a Pharmacist, assists in the timely and accurate dispensing of sterile hazardous and non-hazardous medications to patients in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

This position is a pharmacy technician role to support the HealthPartners Specialty Pharmacy. We are a rapidly growing area of pharmacy that is uniquely integrated into our broader healthcare system. By working closely with care teams, we can provide a seamless transition from diagnosis to affordable medication in hand, while also improving adherence and managing medication therapy which ultimately leads to improved pharmacotherapy outcomes. The specialty pharmacy technician will play a key role in managing patient intake, managing prior authorizations, performing benefit investigations, coordinating patient financial assistance and patient outreach along with inventory management, prescription processing and product fulfillment activities. HealthPartners Specialty Pharmacy focuses on several specialty departments within the organization including oncology, rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology, allergy, asthma, and pulmonology.

Specialty Pharmacies focus on specialty medications used to treat complex conditions. These medications are often high cost with unique insurance requirements and are not typically found in retail pharmacies.

What will a technician be responsible for?

Prior Authorizations - Assisting in the completion and follow up regarding prior authorizations.

Refill Coordination - Coordinating prescription deliveries through mail.

Benefits Investigation - Identifying patients prescription benefits for billing purposes and researching copay assistance options.

Inbox Management - Addressing messages from nurses, care teams, and third-party payers.

Filling/Shipping - product dispensing, packaging, and labeling for mail deliveries.

Unique to this position

o The hours are Monday through Friday 8am-430pm.

o The pharmacy is closed for major holidays.

o Patient interaction is completed by telephone.

o Most daily work is completed at an employee's personal desk.

o All medications dispensed are for at home use. Currently, we do not compound any prescriptions.

o This position incorporates elements from hospital and retail pharmacy settings.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Required Qualifications:

We are open to filling this position with a Certified or Non-Certified technician. Requirements for each are outlined below:

Certified Pharmacy Technician:

Must be registered with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.

Technician certification required. Certification as CPhT through either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).

Non-Certified Technician:

Must be registered with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician

Preferred Qualifications:

One or more years Pharmacy Technician experience highly preferred.
