Responsibilities and practice
The Des Moines, Iowa office of Dentons Davis Brown is seeking an experienced associate attorney with excellent academic credentials to join our growing Bankruptcy practice. The person hired for this position will:

Represent creditors, lenders, financial institutions, businesses, and other clients in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters

Represent clients in bankruptcy, state, and federal court proceedings, including hearings, contested matters, motions, and objections

Handle collection matters, including collection litigation, judgments, garnishments, and other post-judgment enforcement proceedings

Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents; conduct legal research and develop case strategy

Advise clients on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights issues, including claims, automatic stay, dischargeability, preferences, and fraudulent transfers

Handle a variety of commercial litigation matters, including contract, business, and financial disputes

Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, business-focused legal advice

Independently manage assigned matters while collaborating effectively with partners and other attorneys

Position requirements
Personal skills/attributes
-
J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in Iowa
-
3+ years of bankruptcy experience, with a focus on creditor representation and creditors’ rights
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
-
Collaborative approach and a desire to grow within a dynamic practice group
Technical skills
-
Experience with bankruptcy court proceedings and collection matters/litigation
-
Commercial litigation experience preferred
-
Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
Other requirements
- Should be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa and be in good standing
