The Development Services Department of Provo City is looking for a Senior Administrative Assistant to perform advanced, specialized clerical support work in their Planning Division.

What is compensation package?

Pay Rate: (G22) $21.37 - $24.78 per hour (based on qualifications)

What are the main duties? (Click here to access the full class specification.)

  • Prepare and edit reports, forms, and other documents; take notes at meetings; transcribe documents; and enter and retrieve data from specialized software programs.

  • Maintain files and records and organization process for same.

  • Respond to complex requests for information in accordance with GRAMA principles.

  • Schedule meetings, appointments, and conferences; maintain calendars and staff schedules.

  • Support citizen boards and commissions.

  • Manage phone calls, answer questions, and provide information..

  • Assist customers at the front counter.

  • Support office staff as needed and performs other related duties as required.

What are the minimum qualifications?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 3 years of clerical experience.

  • OR an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience [substituting each 1 year of related post-secondary education/training for 6 months of experience].

  • A valid, lawful Driver license may be required.

  • Must be available for occasional evening work (twice per month on Wednesday evenings; once per month on Monday evenings). Actual schedule to be discussed during interview.

What are the physical/environmental demands?

Requires standing at a counter or sitting at a desk or computer for long time periods. Involves exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances. May require extensive walking, driving, or light lifting (10-30 lbs.).

What is the selection process?

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
