Salary Range: $20.00 To $25.00 Hourly
Position Summary:
The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment at port and terminal facilities. This role monitors access points, patrols assigned areas, and ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Security Guard plays a critical role in protecting personnel, vessels, cargo, and property while supporting daily port operations in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Monitor and control access to port facilities, including verifying credentials and authorizing entry and exit of personnel, vehicles, and visitors.

Conduct regular patrols of terminal areas, docks, and facilities to identify and address security risks or safety concerns.

Observe and report suspicious activities, security breaches, safety hazards, or unauthorized access.

Enforce company policies, port regulations, and security procedures, including compliance with Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) requirements.

Inspect vehicles, cargo, and equipment as required to ensure compliance with security standards.

Maintain accurate logs of daily activities, incidents, visitor access, and inspections.

Respond to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.

Support safety initiatives by identifying hazards and promoting compliance with workplace safety standards.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, port personnel, and external agencies to ensure coordinated operations.

Assist with crowd control, traffic direction, and site access during high-volume operations.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall site security and operational needs.
Required Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
-
1–3 years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a related field.

Strong observational and situational awareness skills.

Ability to follow procedures and respond effectively in high-pressure situations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Experience:
-
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or ability to obtain.
-
Experience working in port, terminal, or industrial environments.
-
OSHA 10 certification.
-
CPR/First Aid certification.
-
Familiarity with access control systems, surveillance equipment, and security reporting tools.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds as needed.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to respond quickly to incidents and navigate large facilities.

Required use of PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel‑toe boots) in operational areas.
Work Environment:

Outdoor port and terminal environment with exposure to weather, noise, heavy equipment, and vessel operations.

Fast-paced, safety-sensitive setting requiring constant vigilance and situational awareness.

Work schedules may include rotating shifts, overnight coverage, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
