Are you seeking an opportunity to use your facilities planning and operations knowledge to help ensure a safe and functional facility? As our Facilities Planner 2, you have the opportunity to directly contribute to L&I’s mission to “Keep Washington Safe and Working,” by cultivating a high-quality work environment for L&I employees across the State of Washington. This is a pivotal role involved in statewide strategic planning and implementation for L&I offices.

Duties

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Actively direct, manage and monitor all aspects of property management work for assigned tenants with a customer service focus.

  • Support the Agencies Co-Location Project work.

  • Prepare data analysis, conceptual scopes of work, project schedules, and cost estimates.

  • Collect and analyzes\ planning data such as space utilization, transportation, parking, and utilities.

  • Assist in developing and updating capital, budget, comprehensive plans, and facilities related reports.

  • Interface with customers to build relationships, set goals, establish scope and vision for projects and develop/refine requirements.

  • Use AutoCAD to develop drawings and provide working plans for furniture reconfigurations, modify plans as requested by user groups and execute project.

  • Ensure designs and specifications conform to code requirements and state/agency standards such as Executive Order 16-07, Building a Modern Work Environment.

  • Provide "as built" plans upon project completion.

  • Provide oversight of Tenant Improvement (T.I.) and furniture reconfiguration projects.

  • Drive to facilities and L&I offices, which could require overnight travel.

  • Develop leases and other contractual agreements related to co-location of the L&I building.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree involving major study in planning, engineering, architecture, business or public administration or closely related field.

AND

  • 3 years of experience in governmental facilities planning work or in related fields in private industry which would afford familiarity with large scale facilities development and utilization as found at the State level.

OR

  • Equivalent education/experience totaling 7 years or more.

Please Note: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted, year for year, for education.

AND

  • A valid drivers’ license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

AND

  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Desired:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • PMP certification or project management training; Microsoft office suite and ability to learn various software used by the Facilities program.

For this position, telework is permitted part time and may include statewide travel once a month. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
