ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Create and implement effective direct sales strategies and lead nationwide independent sales representative sales personnel (sales and sales personnel educational staff) toward achievement of corporate sales objectives.

  • Responsible for developing long term sales strategies, annual forecasts, the creation of annual sales operating plans which include territory plans and specific account penetration strategies/tactics.

  • Provide leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and development while comparing sales results to goals and taking appropriate action to correct as necessary.

  • Ensure effective hiring, orientation, training, development and retention of sales and sales personnel education staff.

  • Provide supervision through field visits, observations and measurement of results to include performance appraisals and general recommendations.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual sales forecasts.

  • Collaborate with management, accounting, sales and engineering personnel with the development and execution of new concepts, business models, channels and partners to position the Company as an innovator and industry leader.

  • Maintain competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies.

  • Help evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, or return-on-investment and profit-loss projections.

  • Help develop pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.

  • Contribute to appropriate market research studies and analyze their findings.

  • Use sales forecasting or strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, lines, or services, analyze business developments and monitoring market trends.

  • Contribute to the Company’s advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, social media and direct mail.

  • Contribute and/or participate in promotional activities including, but not limited to: trade shows, website development, internal relations and public relations.

  • Collaborate with product development personnel on product specifications such as design, color, or packaging.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently and diplomatically orally and in writing in the English language; also, to maintain excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships with management, staff and clients.

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow through on work activities with time constraints and interruptions to meet deadlines as well as to work independently with a minimum amount of direction and/or supervision.

  • Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, maintain a sense of humor and to regularly present a well-groomed, professional image.

  • Regular, consistent, punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Education Required

DESIRED EDUCATION & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or sciences with a strong focus on sales related functions.

  • Minimum 8 years relevant work experience in equipment or related sales with at least 5 years of experience managing an independent representative sales force. Experience with the development of target/account-based incentive packages and actual experience developing channels/rollout execution.

  • Experience and success in recruiting and retaining a high-performance sales team and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse sales team.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, direct and achieve sales plans.

  • Proven business analysis and judgment with the ability to proactively manage business and P&L to meet objectives.

  • Strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills.

  • Superior communication and presentation skills with clarity and brevity in both written and verbal communication.

  • Business related computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
