Qualified Rate : $43.6 Per hour

Dock Clerk – Guaranteed Extra Board

Job Summary

The Dock Clerk – Guaranteed Extra Boardis responsible forperformingduties for the Duluth and Two Harbors Ore Dockssuchasinventorymanagement (processing train and vessel movements). The rolecommunicateswith internal and external customers and vendors,ensuresscheduling,performswarehouse duties includingoperatingafork lift,andmaintainsa variety of records.Furthermore, work assignments aredeterminedin accordance withthe applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Major Responsibilities

  • Prepare data using computer terminals

  • Perform all functions of the Dock Information Systems including shipping boats, and obtaining accurate weight sheets for trains coming to the Duluth and Two Harbors Docks

  • Perform callouts for workforce needs in accordance to various union agreements

  • Record, maintain , and provide train and vessel arrival, departure, and other related information

  • Provide customers accurate messages indicating inventory status

  • Communicate train orders, movement instructions, and other information to internal and external stakeholders

  • Operat e vehicles and fork lift s

  • Communicate by telephone and email to complete various tasks and instructions

  • Maintain Working Boards, including creating bulletins and awarding positions, bumping, vacancies and any other occurrence

  • Maintain timely Staff Actions for change of positions, medical, and furloughed

  • Maintain storehouse inventory levels at appropriate levels through issuance, orders, and audit requirements

  • Perform other essential functions as assigned

Working Conditions

  • S tandard working conditions with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday

  • A vailable to work shifts , weekends and holidays

  • A vailable on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidences

  • Work indoors and outdoors (depending on assignment) in various types of weather and environmental conditions

  • S itting for a prolonged period of time

  • Ability to stoop, bend, climb, kneel, crouch, balance, and walk on uneven surfaces

  • May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Requirements

  • Experience or general knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products ( SAP ) , SharePoint, Excel, Access, Word and Power Point

  • H igh S chool D iploma or General Education Diploma ( GED )

  • Certified or pass certification operating fork lift

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must have a valid driver’s licen c e

  • Must qualify on all covered Dock positions for guarantee

  • Successfully complete a typing or data entry assessment, and have computer literacy

  • Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot while working autonomously

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and have good organization skills

  • Exceptional ability to work autonomously, adapt to different situations and multitask

  • Demonstrate good teamwork skills and ability to maintain positive interactions with others

  • Good verbal, reading comprehension and writing skills, ability to analyze a situation and make decisions effectively

  • Demonstrate a c ustomer-service focus and dedication to meeting established standards of quality and safety

  • Ability to maintain an overall level of safety awareness in the work environment

Training

Theincumbentparticipatesin atraining programwhichinvolves job shadowing and practical application and typicallytakes45 working daysto complete.The work locationisat theDuluth Docks’headquartersand the incumbent alsosupports both the Duluth and Two Harbors locations and may need to fill vacancies at both ports.

This position is a unionized position. As such, pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement .
