Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Departmental Specialist to join our Planning, Engineering, and Construction team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.

What does a Departmental Specialist do for us?

Under minimum direction and acting on own initiative and direction, the Departmental Specialist provides complex specialized support for one or more departments or administrative units. They typically support multiple senior or business unit managers and staff. Their typical duties include maintenance of complicated data systems; research, compilation and analysis of data for reports/studies. Their assignments involve work of a confidential nature and require knowledge of the practices and procedures of the function, company policies and programs. They also act as the coordinator of departmental projects and may provide guidance or work leadership to lower-level staff.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • The department's functional areas and/or company policies & procedures

  • Department-specific systems and software such as MS Project, SharePoint, Asset Suite, AM Meridian, PDF editing, etc.

Skills in:

  • Organization and document management required for processing and directing design packages for the use of internal construction crews, construction contractors, and internal fabrication shops

  • Strong interpersonal communication

  • Proficient use of the operation of systems and software

  • Editing and proofreading to assist in composing the format and content of correspondence and technical documents

  • Applying proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar when proofreading

Ability to:

  • Understand and apply basic mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 3 or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience

Preferred:

  • 2 years of company experience

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
