Peckham Inc. - Peckham Farms Production Coordinator

SUMMARY

This position reports to the Manager of Horticulture and Facilities. It supports Peckham Farm operations by coordinating the activities of scheduling, production, shipping, and billing on the wholesale side of the business and by coordinating all Farmstand related activities on the retail side of the business. These include the following: Participating in the execution of the Produce Safety Plan, maintenance of customer e-commerce systems and the internal system used at our Farmstand. Work with Manager of Horticulture and Facilities and Farmstand staff to provide excellent customer service through pre-season planning, order processing and coordination of shipments and deliveries. Providing oversight for the Farmstand staff and Team members.

This is a temporary employment opportunity offer through the next 6 months offering valuable experience while supporting organizational initiatives for a limited duration.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Farm staff to ensure compliance with all Food Safety requirements.

  • Work with the Manager of Horticulture and Facilities to coordinate all Farmstand activities.

  • Provide excellent customer service for Farmstand customers.

  • Work with the Manager of Horticulture and Facilities to coordinate harvest, delivery, processing, and shipping activities with farm staff.

  • Manage Farmstand and delivery staff and team members.

  • Effectively manage customer and supplier relations in support of Farm operations

  • Adhere to Peckham Farm/Facilities/Food Service Handbook Safety Policies and practices.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with the Horticultural Coordinator, and Manager of Horticulture and Facilities to create and execute the annual crop plan.

  • Maintain production, sales, and order tracking records.

  • Work with the Manager of Horticulture and Facilities to provide excellent customer service through pre-season planning, forecasting, order processing and scheduling of deliveries with our customers both internal and external.

  • Lead and work with the team to complete crop maintenance activities if needed.

  • Occasionally assisting with spring and fall regular maintenance and major repair projects on the farm.

  • Maintain safe and clean work environment

  • Promote Peckham’s vision values and services to all customers and stakeholders

  • Assist in maintaining organizational wide quality standards

  • Other related duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has direct supervisory responsibility for both staff and team members.

  • Develop a unified team that reflects Peckham’s culture and values

  • Provide mentorship and coaching

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or Certification in related field

  • One year of experience and a demonstrated ability run an agricultural or horticultural operation.

  • The ability to learn e-commerce business systems.

  • Leadership experience

  • Must pass a thorough background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • One year of experience and a demonstrated ability to work within e-commerce business processes.

  • One to three years’ experience and a demonstrated ability to run an agricultural or horticultural operation.

  • Valid Michigan Fork lift license, or ability to obtain one.

  • Valid MI chauffeurs license, or ability to obtain one.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
