Location of Employment: 4th Judicial District, Coffey County, KS

In person work required in both Burlington, KS and Lyndon, KS.

Position Title and Salary: Administrative Assistant, Grade 23, $21.19 hourly;

$21.73 hourly with six months of satisfactory performance $23.39 hourly with one year of satisfactory performance

Job duties: This is a highly responsible, complex, and confidential administrative position assisting the Chief Judge of the District Court. Professionalism is required in all aspects of this position. Work requires competence, independent judgment, discretion, a high degree of initiative balanced with common sense, and courteous interaction with the public and court stakeholders. Applicants should be detail-oriented and be able to prioritize and communicate well. This position requires flexibility and a good attitude.

Required education and experience: High School Diploma or GED; a minimum of three years’ experience in an administrative assistant, secretary, or general clerical role.

Required Qualifications: Excellent organizational, filing, and scheduling skills. Ability to multitask and work accurately in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and basic understanding of Microsoft Excel. Ability to draft professional correspondence and communicate effectively with the public and other professionals. Willingness to work beyond normal business hours as required. Capacity to maintain confidentiality of work and court proceedings.

Preferred qualifications: Three years’ experience as an administrative assistant or secretary to a judge, attorney, executive, administrator, or similar professional in the public or private sector. A working knowledge of the legal system.

Background Check: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal background check, complete a drug test and obtain a Kansas T ax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of the offer letter .
