Job Summary: The Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager is responsible for leading and managing the organization's monitoring, detection, investigation, and incident response capabilities. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the SOC, continuously improves the scope of security and operational compliance, and manages a team of security operation center specialists. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as first-line Manager for the SOC, providing day-to-day leadership, direction, and oversight of all operations
- Lead SOC operations, including workforce planning, staffing, scheduling, performance management, and service-level oversight.
- Select SOC Specialists/Operators, support their professional development, and administer disciplinary action as needed, including performance improvement plans
- Manage the daily staffing schedule for GSOC personnel; coordinate coverage for absences, call-outs, and shift gaps. Cover day and/or night shifts if necessary.
- Supervise the creation and maintenance of a SOC knowledge management system, ensuring resources and SOPs remain accurate, current, and readily accessible to SOC Specialists
- Develop, maintain, and optimize SOC processes, procedures, and operational metrics through continuous improvement and automation.
- Own quality control for all SOC systems, reports, initiatives and deliverables.
- Maintain ongoing situational awareness of events, incidents, or emerging threats that could compromise the safety and security of personnel, operations, or infrastructure across company locations nationally
- Oversee monitoring functions including access control systems, burglary/intrusion alarms, visitor management, CCTV surveillance, and compliance checks across all branch locations.
- Enhance security monitoring effectiveness by improving detection use cases, security controls, and log collection, retention, and coverage across critical systems.
- Monitor and review SOC performance, operational effectiveness, and key metrics to drive service improvements and operational excellence.
- Ensure SOC practices align with applicable compliance and regulatory requirements of the Company
- Provide technical support as needed. Follow procedures for service and inspection requests. Communicate and analyze inquiries and determine a correct course of action.
- Assist other departments and associates with special projects to support a teamwork atmosphere for the benefit of our customers and the company.
- Participate in job related training programs and meetings to continually refresh and update knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a security operations control room required.
- Minimum of three or more (3+) years’ experience leading security operations, incident response, or SOC teams with demonstrated ability to coach, evaluate, and manage performance. Prior Management experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of access control systems, alarm monitoring platforms, and CCTV/video management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear training materials and SOPs
- Experience developing SOC metrics, KPIs, and executive reporting from inception to distribution.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and other Microsoft 365 software.
- 21 years of age
- Bachelor’s degree required; criminal justice, Emergency Management, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field of study a plus
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule with a wide range of hours including, but not limited to, weekends and holidays to support 24/7 operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Manager-level experience or higher in a Security Operations Center role or similar
- Proficiency with internal Brink’s proprietary/commercial business software packages i.e. BITS, Garcia etc.
- Advanced proficiency operating multiple security systems and software (CCTV, Burglary Alarm systems, Access Control Hardware/Software, PISMs, etc.)
- Knowledge of tactical security operations
- Knowledge of the logistics industry; its operations, products, services, policies, and procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience drafting Standard Operating Procedures and/or Standards of Work documentation.
