Job Duties
The Property Records & Drainage Taxation Specialist manages a wide range of property taxation, recordkeeping, licensing, drainage assessments, and election support duties with a high level of accuracy and compliance. This role oversees complex taxation functions including current, delinquent, forfeited, and confession of judgment tax processes; maintains land record data; processes payments, abatements, refunds, and special assessments; and reconciles electronic mortgage and ACH transactions. The specialist ensures accurate parcel assignments, verifies property transfers, interprets deeds, tests software updates, and completes required state and annual taxation reports. In drainage taxation, responsibilities include tracking projects, preparing public hearing materials, maintaining expense records, calculating assessments, communicating statutory requirements to landowners, and coordinating efforts with neighboring counties. The role also serves as a key resource for County elections by supporting SVRS operations, equipment testing, voting procedures, and providing training to election judges and staff. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to interpret and apply complex federal, state, and local laws while delivering timely and accurate service to departments, elected officials, and the public.
Minimum Education Required
The minimum education required for this position is a two‑year associate degree in a related field. Applicants may also qualify with an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips them to perform the essential functions of the role.
Minimum Experience Required
Candidates must have at least three years of experience in related fields such as property taxation, land records, licensing, public administration, compliance, or similar technical work requiring accuracy and independent judgment. Experience applying statutes, working with complex data, or performing detailed research is highly valuable.
