Overview

TheSpeech Language Pathologistis responsible for designing and implementing a strengths-based evaluative and therapeutic plans for each assigned child that will promote learning and a positive self-image all in accordance with Racker’s vision and mission. The Speech Language Pathologist works as a collaborative part of the larger evaluative and and clinical team at Racker.

Racker provides progressive strength based preschool program; and early intervention and pre-school evaluations in Cortland, Tompkins and Tioga Counties.

We are committed to helping you grow and develop. Our classroom speech and language pathologists have an opportunity to work on an interdisciplinary team, receive mentoring and continuing education, and are provided with materials and technology for treatment and documentation. Our therapists have an opportunity to work with other evaluators/therapists and receive mentoring, as necessary. The number of hours/days/evaluations/therapy sessions can vary from a couple hours to several days of per week.

They have the opportunity to plan and implement an integrated therapeutic program for each child.

This is a Full-Time, In-Person position.

The starting salary range for this position is $51,000 - $61,000.

Responsibilities

SLP Essential Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive communication assessments tailored to the needs and strengths of the child, using formal and informal testing methods as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Interpret evaluation results to contribute to eligibility determinations and a holistic understanding of a child’s needs and strengths

  • Provide speech-language and hearing screenings as needed

  • Adhere to the therapeutic prescriptions of the Medical Director and their associates

  • Develop and implement appropriate group or individual therapy programs for all individuals in the caseload for whom there is a medical prescription

  • Attend meetings as requested by site director and Director of Clinical and Education Services

  • Assist in interpreting the individual’s therapy program to the multidisciplinary team and counsel on carryover to address children’s goals

  • Understand and utilize perspectives and techniques of team members in program design and daily activities, utilize problem-solving to resolve differences and come to conclusion with team

  • Accord respect and support to each team member, promoting open communication and mutual understanding

  • Keep families fully informed and supported regarding issues affecting their children and the program

  • Prepare all required reports in a complete, timely and professionally written manner – including evaluation reports, quarterly reports, discharge reports, IEP/IFSP check off and written information as needed for reimbursing and referral agencies for all assigned individuals

  • Keep attendance and session note records for all assigned individuals

  • Complete training required by program regulations, including OCFS regulations, and as directed by supervisor

  • Travel to various locations within multiple counties, using own valid, working vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology; New York State Certification as a Teacher of the Speech Hearing Handicapped; ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence; approved driver; valid New York State Driver’s License

  • Qualities: Ability to physically assist children to participate in the program; ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds; ability to engage in repetitive movements such as sitting/kneeling on floor, bending and stooping; ability to move quickly to attend to a running child. Ability to operate standard office equipment.

  • Qualifications: Ability to operate standard office equipment, Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and database applications; proven interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to comply with professional standards of conduct.

  • Prefferred Experience: Experience working with pediatric populations, and in school based settings prefferred.
