Description

Job Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance & Accounting

Location: Realty / Executive Building

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant supports the accuracy and integrity of financial operations by managing general accounting activities, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, audit support, and financial analysis.

Qualifications

  • 3–7+ years of progressive accounting experience (6+ years preferred or equivalent hands-on experience)

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles

  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, M3, Great Plains)

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with real estate property tax

  • Background in real estate/project accounting preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations

  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits

  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to management

  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

  • Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls

  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed

Qualifications

Education

Preferred

  • Some college or better

  • Bachelors or better in Finance

  • Bachelors or better in Accounting

Experience

Required

  • Experience working in a multi-entity, real estate, and/or project accounting environment preferred, including exposure to AP/AR processes and financial analysis

  • 2 years: 2+ years of experience supporting audits, account reconciliations, and maintaining internal controls in a structured accounting environment

  • 3-7 years: 3–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close
